'In Russell Square' London- Cityscape Painting

This delightful cityscape painting of Russell Square in London was painted on the spot.  Bruce had admired this location for some time and was keen to portray the subject. He especially liked the way the buildings provide glimpses of colour through the early Autumn trees and the contrast of a different set of colours in the busier lower portion of the painting.  He also painted the scene again and this time portrayed the subject after dark, when the street lights, rather than walls, could be seen through the trees.
