This plein air beach canvas painting depicts colourful pebbles on a local beach near the artists home.  The strong sunshine of the day meant the artist had the challenge of dealing with shapes, tones, colours and textures twice - firstly in the lit areas of each stone and then again, without assuming similarities, in the shadowed areas.  Bruce enjoys the richness of Oil paint and the way its strength can help to suggest three dimensions.
